A/Prof. Ryan Hoy

Senior Research Fellow
Monash University

A/Prof Ryan Hoy is a Respiratory Physician from Melbourne, Australia with a master’s degree in occupational health. He is the lead physician for the Occupational Respiratory Clinic at the Alfred Hospital and is a Senior Research Fellow at the Monash University Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health. His primary research is in the field of occupational causes of respiratory diseases, and he has over 35 publications on the topic of silicosis. In 2019, Dr Hoy was appointed to the National Dust Disease Taskforce, and in 2022 chaired the National Silicosis Prevention Strategy, facilitated by the Lung Foundation of Australia.



Prof. Jeff Swigris

Professor of Medicine
National Jewish Health

Prof. Jeff Swigris is a pulmonologist physician-investigator in the Center for Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado. Clinically, he specializes in the evaluation and management of patients with all forms of ILD. His individual research interests include examining how patients live with ILD, how that experience can be quantified, the effects of ILD on patients’ quality of life, and how quality of life for patients with ILD can be improved. He has developed several patient-reported outcome measures including the L-PF (Living with Pulmonary Fibrosis questionnaire) and ATAQ-LAM (A Tool to Assess Quality of Life in Lymphangioleiomyomatosis) that are used in various research settings.



Prof. Paul J. Wolters

MD
University of California, San Francisco

Dr. Paul Wolters is an academic pulmonologist specializing in lung fibrosis and other interstitial lung diseases.  He earned his medical degree at the University of Minnesota, completed internal medicine training at the University of Colorado, and pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of California, San Francisco where he is now on faculty.  Dr. Wolters is the director of biological research for UCSF’s interstitial lung disease program and leads a research group investigating how epithelial cell dysfunction, aging, and telomere dysfunction drive lung fibrosis.



Dr. Patricia Sime

Chair, Department of Internal Medicine
Virginia Commonwealth University

Dr. Sime is a physician scientist who received her M.D. training at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where she graduated with honors. She then pursued her specialist training in pulmonary medicine in Edinburgh before traveling to McMaster University, Ontario, Canada, to train in the science of inflammatory and scarring lung diseases. Dr. Sime has received numerous awards for mentorship and scientific achievement. She has published more than 150 manuscripts and has been continuously funded by the NIH, foundations and philanthropy. Dr. Sime holds patents for her discoveries, has served as a standing member of an NIH study section, has contributed to journal editorial boards and serves leadership roles in the American Thoracic Society, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and the Parker B. Francis Foundation.
